VLAN

(Virtual Local Area Network)

A VLAN, or Virtual Local Area Network, is a logical network segment created within a physical LAN. It allows devices to be grouped together even if they are not physically connected, improving network management and security.

VLANs are widely used in enterprise networks to isolate traffic, reduce broadcast domains, and enhance performance. They enable administrators to segment networks based on departments, functions, or security requirements. VLANs are a key component of modern network design, providing flexibility and scalability in complex environments.
