POP3

(Post Office Protocol 3)

Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) is an email retrieval protocol used to download emails from a server to a local client. It is one of the most widely used email protocols, alongside IMAP.

POP3 is designed for simplicity, allowing users to access their emails offline. However, it typically deletes emails from the server after download, which can limit synchronization across devices. Despite its limitations, POP3 remains popular for its ease of use and compatibility with email clients.
