CID

(Content ID)

Content ID is a digital fingerprinting system used by platforms like YouTube to identify and manage copyrighted content. Content ID allows copyright owners to claim, monetize, or block unauthorized use of their content.

When a video is uploaded, Content ID scans it against a database of registered works. If a match is found, the copyright owner can choose to track viewership statistics, run ads on the video, or block it entirely. Content ID helps protect intellectual property while enabling creators to share and monetize their work.
